Amendments to the organisational strategy
Roadmap Amendment 1
Whether to endorse Independent socialist candidates in 2026: Neither option is sufficient.
We have submitted an option C which reads: ‘For the unique case of the 2026 English Local Government elections, the Party will seek to support all socialist candidates where there is evidence of candidates being engaged in community campaigning and the local party agrees to support them.’
If option C is not heard, we recommend that you ABSTAIN.
Roadmap Amendment 2
Strategic priority for 2026 English local elections:
SELECT Option B: ‘The Party’s strategic priority in the 2026 English local elections will be to target support for endorsed candidates, under either its own or the Independent Socialist banner, in a position to meaningfully contest for their seat.’
Explainer: We should be strategic in our targeting.
Roadmap Amendment 3
Strengthening trade union relationships
Add 3.d.iii:
‘The CEC shall appoint a Workers’ Movement Commission, consisting in senior trade union movement figures, for the Party’s first two years. The WMC shall be tasked with deepening the Party’s relations with trade unions, laying the ground for national affiliations, and drawing up a political and organising strategy to more deeply root the party in the workers’ movement. The Commission, should resources permit, shall also be staffed.’
ACCEPT
Explainer: We should strengthen our relationships with trade unions and have a member-led approach to affiliation that should be carefully considered.
